Encore Nightclub is closed.
TACOMA, WA, June 29, 2015 – Encore Nightclub in downtown Tacoma will host its final party this Friday night, July 3rd. The popular nightspot is closing down after a lengthy trademark dispute over the nightclub’s name. Plans are in the works to rebrand and renovate the space within the coming months. Jon Tartaglia, Encore’s operating partner, stated that “while the circumstances leading to the abrupt closure were somewhat out of our control, the timing was right to rethink the venue’s concept and update the interior of this historic Pacific Avenue space.”
Over the past four and a half years, Encore Nightclub has been regarded as one of the region’s top nightclubs. The venue has played host to numerous celebrity acts like LMFAO and Biz Markie as well as renowned DJs from around the country. And, it is the only south sound nightclub to consistently earn consideration in the Seattle Nightlife Awards.
“We’re extremely proud of the role that Encore has played in shaping Tacoma’s nightlife,” noted Tartaglia. “And we’re very excited for the next chapter.” While no details have been released regarding the new concept, Tartaglia did say that a new lounge area with added seating, upgraded sound and lighting and a more casual atmosphere were on the shortlist of potential changes. And of course, a new name.
Encore Nightclub’s farewell party is this Friday night and will feature local favorite, DJ Pedro.
